Larry Browne

A native Californian, Larry Browne - singer, trumpeter and composer - lived and worked for ten years in New York , where "Little" Jimmy Scott and Mark Murphy sometimes invited him up on stage. He moved to Paris in 1999. Experienced in the art of interpretation and improvisation, Larry is a thoroughbred jazz singer with a wide repertoire, including five hundred Gershwin and Cole Porter numbers, bossa novas by Tom Jobim as well as his own compositions. On his arrival in France he formed a quintet with Jerry Edwards (trombone), Ludovic de Preissac (piano), Manu Marchès (bass) and Antoine (drums).

They performed regularly in the best Paris jazz clubs - Duc des Lombards , Sunset-Sunside, Petit Journal Montparnasse - and have appeared at numerous jazz festivals - Enghien-les-Bains, Mâcon, Crest Jazz Vocal, Marciac, Meervocal in Germany . Larry has recorded several albums, including two as leader ( Swing Bean , 1993 and Sweet and Lovely , 2003), plus two albums with the Manhattan Vocal Project ( Glenn Miller Big Band , 1996 and When we Meet Again , 1998). He plays trumpet with a number of bands (from quartet to big band), and has been teaching vocal jazz and improvisation at the IACP since 2004. www.larrybrowne.com
