Amélie Payen Amélie is a faithful member of the Voice Messengers since 2000. She began her musical career at the age of nine when she learned to play the traversal flute. Her singing career started with classical singing training at the age of sixteen. After a lot of experience singing in both classical choirs and jazz groups she created her own jazz quintet in the Rouen area. During these formative years she performed in several musical comedies (she played the role of Marie in Marie Galante by Kurt Weill) and in two Offenbach operettas (in 1998 and 1999) under the direction

of Philippe Hui. When she arrived in Paris in 1999, her eclectic taste in music and her diverse musical talent opened doors for her to work with a variety of musical formations of diverse cultural influence - from African to variety music by way of Reggae. With the Voice Messengers Amélie performed as soloist with Steve Lacy, Glenn Ferris, Antoine Hervé, Laurent Cugny and Jean-Loup Longnon between 2001 and 2003. In 2003 she joined the female jazz trio Scatsy (arranger Eric Le Cardinal). Their first CD will be released in 2005. Amélie has been teaching vocal jazz at the Conservatory of Chennevières since 2001.
